Chelco VAT Managing Director, Alexis Tsielepis, continues his European teaching spree in Amsterdam on 10 May, in Barcelona on 25 May, and in Usseau, France, on 16 June.

21st Annual VAT Summit – Recent ECJ Cases

At the 21st Annual VAT Summit in Barcelona, Spain, on Thursday, 25 May 2023, which is organised by the VAT Forum, Alexis will review the most important recent judgments of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) and provide a technical update. He will also examine where the ECJ has followed its previous decisions, and where it is seeking to broaden or reduce the application of the VAT Directive.

The high-level VAT Summit aims at creating an open discussion between VAT managers within companies, consultants, officials from national VAT authorities and the European Commission (EC). It also aims at discussing hot topics, providing ready-made answers for businesses and informing companies and consultants of the latest changes to EC and national VAT legislation and the impact of those changes on businesses.

IVA VAT Conference – VAT Legislation

At the International VAT Association (IVA) VAT Conference in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on 10-12 May 2023 Alexis will present during the IVA University session a comprehensive analysis of VAT legislation.

EU VAT Expert Degree – Fixed Establishment

As part of the acclaimed EU VAT Expert Degree at Château de la Motte in Usseau, France, on 12-16 June 2023, Alexis will present to participating students the history of the Fixed Establishment (FE) concept, and the historic construction of the definition from the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). He will also provide an analysis of the attributes of the FE and how one should be thinking about the concept, including a critical evaluation of recent CJEU cases. He will also analyse the impact of the FE on the place of services rules and on the place of supply of goods rules.
