Limassol – Our very own, Alexis Tsielepis, has been appointed to the VAT Expert Group (VEG) of the European Commission (EC).
The EC has appointed VAT Forum Cvba to the VEG for a three-year term commencing on 1 October 2025, and approved Alexis to be its main representative at VEG meetings, and Jeroen Bijl, as its alternate representative.
Commenting on his appointment, Alexis said: “This is a huge honour for the VAT Forum, me personally and for Cyprus,” adding: “We look forward to tackling the many challenges surrounding European VAT, while collaborating with colleagues and friends and actively contributing to discussions.”
Persons serving on the VEG assist and advise the European Commission on VAT matters, including on the preparation of new legislative acts and other policy initiatives, on practical VAT tax administration issues and good practises, as well as on the practical implementation of VAT legislation.
VAT Forum is an international partnership of indirect tax specialists based in Belgium. Founded in 1999, VAT Forum was created to research, manage and distribute information on indirect taxes and is now considered a leader in the provision of VAT education and information across Europe and beyond.
