Limassol – In a celebration of humanity and solidarity, Costas Tsielepis & Co Ltd organised earlier this week a blood drive to help save lives.
The blood donation was part of the firm’s 40th Anniversary celebrations and lasted throughout Monday morning. It was participated by the management and staff of the firm as well as guests.
The Blood Drive was also part of the company’s Social and Corporate Responsibility programme.
“Giving blood is an unselfish act where we generously offer what is most valuable to us to help others in their time of need,” Alexis Tsielepis, Director of Costas Tsielepis & Co said shortly after donating.
Cyprus has almost double the proportion of active blood donors compared to any other EU country.
One pint of blood can save up to three lives. A single victim of a serious car accident can require more than 50 pints of blood while the average red blood cell transfusion in cancer patients is 3.4 pints, requiring four donors.
