The Chelco VAT International Academy launches its new series of learning about Value Added Tax (VAT) through practical, hands-on examples with a morning workshop on Friday, 3 March 2023.

‘Drill Down: Learning VAT Through Examples’ is designed to expose participants to practice-based learning on a number of topical VAT subjects. From experience, inductive learning leads to an understanding of the often elusive VAT that is richer, deeper and the various concepts are retained longer. Most importantly, it offers learners confidence in their ability to think and apply their new knowledge to tackle a wider spectrum of VAT issues and questions they may come across.

A total of five subjects will be presented, analysed and then demonstrated with practical examples:

  1. Taxable transactions and VAT/VIES registration
  2. Place of supply rules and use and enjoyment
  3. Reverse charge rules and implications
  4. VAT return and deductions
  5. New used property definition and recovery of input VAT within 3 years and 5% reduced VAT rate
