Chelco VAT Ltd is celebrating 10 years on the Cyprus VAT scene and is marking the occasion with a VAT Forum and a cocktail party on Friday, 28 June 2024.

Chelco VAT is commemorating its first decade of operations with a very special round-table Forum discussion led by the renowned Prof. Dr. David Hummel, Professor at the University of Leipzig and Legal Secretary (Référendaire) at the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in the Chambers of Advocate General, Juliane Kokott.

The Forum’s Guest Speaker will offer an insight into the functions of the CJEU, and its important role in developing case law with regards to VAT legislation. Prof. Dr. Hummel’s presentation will be followed by a panel discussion that will address how the Cyprus Tax Tribunal and the Cyprus Courts have been dealing with VAT and how referrals to the CJEU will assist their work.

The Forum will be followed by a Cocktail Reception at Columbia Plaza’s 7 Seas.

David Hummel is a Legal Secretary (Référendaire) at the European Court of Justice at the cabinet of Advocate General, Juliane Kokott since 2016.

Before (2013-2016) he represented several tax law chairs at the Universities of Münster, Trier, Leipzig and Hamburg.

In mid-2017 he was appointed as a Professor at the University of Leipzig. His academic career started with the Study of Law at the University of Leipzig, a postgraduate (Ph.D.) as an assistant of Prof. Dr. Stadie with a VAT-Thesis in 2009 and a Habilitation in 2013.

The Forum and cocktail reception are complimentary. Registration however, for either or both, is required as seats are limited.
