Alexis Tsielepis teaches VAT to fellow accountants

Limassol – Chelco VAT Ltd Managing Director, Alexis Tsielepis, delivered two separate seminars last week on the VAT Reverse Charge Mechanism to fellow members of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC).

The two seminars, held on the 14th of May in Nicosia and the 15th of May in Limassol, were organised by ICPAC and attracted close to 300 participants from all over Cyprus.

In his usual flamboyant teaching style, he used volunteers from the audience and props to demonstrate the foundations and workings of the reverse charge mechanism and presented examples to demonstrate the misuse of the concept, such as the infamous Carousel Fraud.

Tsielepis delivered the seminars jointly with Christina Koronis, Head of Indirect Tax Services of Abacus Ltd.

Tsielepis is widely considered as one of the foremost experts on VAT in Cyprus. With more than 15 years of experience in VAT strategic consulting, he advises businesses on international VAT matters and lectures at local and international VAT conferences. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and holds the Expert in European Value Added Tax Degree, which he earned with the highest grade ever awarded in the history of the coveted diploma.

Tsielepis is also the lead instructor of the Chelco VAT International Academy, Chelco VAT’s educational arm. The Academy organises conferences, seminars and workshops and delivers VAT knowledge to a wide range of professionals dealing with indirect tax in the private and public sectors and businesses in need of strengthening their VAT knowledge.
